This artist’s book consists of a poem “blanket” cradled within a woven “nest.” The frayed flannel blanket, left unfinished, is embroidered with the original poem Flight Song for Wren Marie, written in response to a cousin’s miscarriage of her first child, a daughter. The nest is comprised of fibrous and natural materials, printed with a mother’s words of pain and mourning, then woven together to form a protective but fragile space, on the verge of unraveling and impossible to mend.
