While in residency at Sitka Center for Art & Ecology on the Oregon Coast, I developed this piece in response to that particular place. Like the rich detritus of a forest floor or the accumulation of materials at the high tide line, these layers speak to what has taken place. They form patterns and rhythms that can tell us stories, if we learn the language. Core Samples became part of Sitka's Reflections project, which you can read about here.
