This piece developed in response to a published lecture given by Kathleen Norris entitled, “Laundry, Liturgy, and ‘Women’s Work.’” Household dryer lint was saved for a full year, then the fibers were mixed with water and blended, poured onto a round mould, pressed into individual papers, tucked into date-labeled vellum envelopes and organized chronologically in an acid-free box. The text is an excerpt from Kathleen Norris’ poem “Housecleaning.”
